Self-Myofascial Release (SMFR)

SMFR Therapy.png

SMFR is a gentle, targeted technique that uses small, controlled movements or tools (such as soft balls and rolls) to release tension and tightness in the body’s fascia - the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, organs, and joints.

Over time, fascia can become tight or restricted due to injury, surgery, stress, or repetitive movement patterns. This restriction may cause discomfort, reduced mobility, or postural imbalance. SMFR encourages the fascia to become more supple and responsive, improving overall body function and awareness.

What SMFR Hopes to Achieve

The goal of SMFR is to help the body restore natural balance and movement. It can:

● Improve posture and alignment

● Increase flexibility and range of motion

● Reduce muscle tension and discomfort

● Support recovery from injury or surgery

by addressing compensation patterns

● Enhance body awareness and relaxation

● Promote better circulation and lymphatic flow

● Complement other therapies, exercise, or rehabilitation programs

What to expect?

Your Self Myofascial Release (SMFR) session is designed to help you reconnect with your body, ease areas of tension and restore natural balance. Each session is gentle, mindful, and tailored to your individual needs - whether you’re looking to improve mobility, support recovery after surgery, or simply release built-up stress.

SMFR encourages your body to unwind at its own pace, allowing muscles and fascia to soften and lengthen. As your body begins to move more freely, you may notice subtle yet powerful changes in how you feel - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Clients are always advised to work within their comfort range, avoid painful pressure, and consult their practitioner or healthcare provider if they have any concerns or medical conditions.

Sessions are usually one to one but small groups could be undertaken, please contact to discuss your needs.
